Lucresia Stone-Rojas, 46, has been sentenced to seven years in prison after being arrested for attempting to smuggle heroin concealed within Bibles to state prison inmates, the New York Post reports. Initially detained in November 2023 on a weapons charge, subsequent investigations revealed packages addressed to inmates containing Bibles with 23 grams of heroin hidden in their spines. Acting U.S. Attorney Andrew Haden emphasized, “Smuggling drugs into our prisons endangers both the inmates and the correctional staff. It will not be tolerated.” (New York Post)
